At the beginning of the year, I took on the responsibility of becoming the President of the Dawg Pound. Throughout the year, it was a daunting task. Having Presidential responsibilities can be overwhelming at times, but I am satisfied with the work we were able to accomplish throughout the year.
As we closed out the semester, the success of spring sports helped us close out strong. In a creative coordination, we were able to create and purchase t-shirts that we designed ourselves. “Straight Outta Dawg Pound” was the theme, and it came out looking great. With all the success of the attendance in baseball games, our vision was to distribute them on the Saturday of Spring Weekend. Due to events out of our control, the game was canceled for students. So, even though we made all of these great t-shirts, we, unfortunately, were not able to give them to students just yet. Being in a leadership position though, you need to overcome these challenges and turn them into positives. Instead of using it as a negative, we took this opportunity to promote our t-shirts even more, so students could become more excited about them. That is exactly what happened, and now we are just finding the right opportunity to distribute them.
Like I have said before, the weather changes everyone’s mindset – it provides a positive atmosphere for everyone. Being at the baseball games and hanging out in the outfield, it gives the Dawg Pound an opportunity for students to interact with each other and have a good time. One thing is for sure, Bulldogs like to enjoy getting a tan while watching their fellow Dawgs play in sports. It was a win-win for the Dawg Pound overall for the Spring sports season.
As for next year, we are looking to continue our growth as an organization. More t-shirts and promotional items are on the radar for the e-board currently, as everyone is excited what we will be able to do come the 2017-2018 season.
