Bryant-I’ll see you in the Spring!

For those of you who don’t know, during the fall semester of 2017, I will be studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain, at the Universidad de Salamanca. Words cannot express my excitement and gratefulness I have for this experience and the opportunities I will encounter while I am there. I will be living with a host family, taking 4 classes, and working at an internship. I am sure I will travel to several countries, and will come back from Spain having bettered my Spanish speaking skills. I will try new foods and meet incredible people. I will be living a dream that many people aren’t fortunate enough to have. Through it all, I will be humble and will take lots of pictures.

It’s crazy to think that in a little over two weeks, I will be moving out of my sophomore year dorm and head home for the summer. Only I won’t be moving in as a junior in September; instead, I will be getting on an airplane the first week of August to start my new life in a foreign country for the next five and a half months.

As excited and thrilled as I am to have this opportunity, there will be many things I miss about Bryant. I am going to miss my (yes I have timed it) three minute walk to class every morning. I’ve been told in Salamanca, when getting to class and or your internship, sometimes you have to leave an hour early to make it on time to your task.

I will miss the campus on its own. This campus has grown to be my home away from home, and now I am leaving another nest, again. However, I am sure Salamanca will yet again become another home for me.

I will miss the friends I have made while living here. I am studying abroad with a few people I am friendly with, but the people I live and work with everyday are studying in different locations from me. I will miss them. I haven’t even left yet and I am already excited for our reunion while abroad.

Bryant, I will miss you.  My high school teacher once told me, “once must travel to learn”, and Bryant, as much as I learn in your classes, I need to see the world.
